A singles hill walking event from Kenmare to Killarney in aid of Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind will take place on July 23, and will be lead by a local woman.

Cashel lady Avril Mulcahy the face behind singlelista.com, who recently went on 40 dates in 40 days, is joining forces with Red Fm DJ Dave Mac to lead the walkers in their search for love! The walk aptly titled “puppy love walk” is limited to 50 people. A number of women have already signed up and organisers are appealing for more men to sign up for the walk while also stressing that you don’t need to be single to do the walk.

Singles Coach Avril Mulcahy says “the women/men ratio is a common conundrum in the dating industry. Women tend to take more control over their dating life, while a lot of men sit back and wait for it to happen. The Puppy Love Walk is for people who want more out of their single life, have more fun and more friendship, while supporting a great charity along the way. I will be on hand to answer any dating questions whilst helping with icebreakers and introducing singles to potential matches”

DJ Dave Mac has been appealing on-air for single men to sign up for the walk. He says “This is a great opportunity for single guys to meet like-minded single ladies in the great outdoors, for a fun walk free from the pressures of the pub-scene, which often isn’t either the easiest or the greatest way to meet people. Personally I’m looking forward to seeing how the event works out and to hear what Avril’s dating advice might be, after all she’s the dating expert not me! And should Cupid’s Arrow strike, I’ll follow the story on air afterwards…”

Organiser Eimear Kenneally who works as a kennels assistant at Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind came up with the idea when she heard Avril Mulcahy being interviewed by Dave Mac on the radio station. She thought that they would be the perfect people to lead such a walk and that they would bring a fun element to the walk. Each participant is asked to raise a minimum of €E30 through sponsorship. On the day they will receive a goody bag including lunch and treats, though a love match can’t be guaranteed!

Places are limited and interested participants are asked to call 1850 506 300 or email organiser eimearkenneally@guidedogs.ie to sign up and get a sponsorship pack which includes an Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind T-Shirt. For more information please see www.guidedogs.ie or www.singlelista.com.
