The Cahir Tidy Towns Group received great news last weekend that our great novelist and proud Cahir woman, Melissa Hill has sponsored the painting of the library! Many thanks are extended to Melissa for this kind gesture.
Cahir library is probably the building where Melissa (pictured above) first started off her career - learning to love books and stories, and inspiring her to go on to write her own chart topping tales.
This is a great show of support for the town by Melissa and especially the Tidy Towns Group who are very grateful.
The group also thanks the many others who were about to come on board to pool money to do the library, but don’t worry, there will be other days and worthy projects!
Cahir is a great town and it’s starting to show that people really do care and appreciate what we have.
Nobody has seen a judge yet so it’s still high alert on litter picking and tidying of premises to get over the first round of judging.
The group was extremely active last week planting the flower beds on the Tipperary Road and helping out John O’Brien at the War Memorial by planting the beds at the side of the monument. Fair play and thanks also to Jamie Fitzgerald, who has started power washing the Mill. This will make a big difference to that area as the judges comment on it every year. Good man Jamie, you are true to your word.
Tidy Towns meet this Wednesday at 7pm for some weeding of flower beds.
