The launch of the photography exhibition titled “Tranquil Oceans” took place in Cashel Library on Tuesday, March 12. Tranquil Oceans is a collection of photographs taken by Catherine Butler of Clonmel showing the magnificent Irish coastline along with a few of her personal favourites of local attractions.
This was Catherine’s first exhibition as she is relatively new to photography.
She studied digital photography as part of the BTEI course in Spafield Resource Centre under the guidance of Cher Quinlan. After completing her Fetac 3 qualification in Cashel, she then continued her studies in The Waterford College of Further Education which is due to finish in mid March of this year.
Catherine had the privilege of having Sarah O’Connor, her personal effectiveness tutor from Spafield Resource Centre to speak at the launch of her exhibition. Sarah delivered a very comprehensive speech and helped make the evening a most enjoyable one for everyone who came along.
The launch of the exhibition was a huge success and was attended by a large audience, in excess of fifty people so, and a great night was had by all.
This success was largely down to the help and expertise of the staff from Cashel Library who have been more than accommodating in every way and Catherine would like to thank Catherine, Aoife and Jackie who helped out enormously with the display.
There is still plenty of time to view the photographs as the exhibition will continue to be on display for the entire month of March and anybody who has any enquiries can contact Catherine directly on 0879067061.
We hope that Catherine will commence work on her next exhibition as her natural talent is a pleasure to view and if the last exhibition is anything to go on, the ones to follow will go from strength to strength.
