New link road traffic plan for Tipperary Town

A new link road to and traffic management plan has been drawn up to by Tipperary Town Council to help alleviate traffic congestion in the town.

A new link road to and traffic management plan has been drawn up to by Tipperary Town Council to help alleviate traffic congestion in the town.

Presenting the Plan Mr. Aidan Finn explained that the Council intend to construct a link road at Bohercrow consisting of c. 400m of new single carriageway road between the Roundabout on the Limerick Road, N24 and the Emly Road, , including a new roundabout, road pavement, signage, road markings, footpaths, route lighting and drainage systems. He said they also hope to construct a new A roundabout at the intersection of the Emly Road and the Galbally Road at the top of O’Brien Street.

New Traffic management measures also form part of the plan particularly in the centre of the town which includes one way systems, a roundabout at the junction of Abbey Street and Bridge Street, road markings, road signage, kerb build-outs, parking provision, pedestrian facilities and pavement rehabilitation

Concluding his presentation Mr. Finn informed the members that plans and particulars of the proposed development and the Appropriate Assessment determination are available for inspection, or purchase at Tipperary Town Council, Civic Offices, Rosanna Road, Tipperary Town and at Roads Section, South Tipperary County Council, County Hall, Emmet Street, Clonmel, from 23rd May 2013 to 4th July 2013.
