Musical Society kids to star in “Wizard of Oz”

The classic musical “The Wizard of Oz” will be staged at the Strand Theatre next week by 110 talented young actors, singers and dancers from Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society’s Academy of Performing Arts.

The classic musical “The Wizard of Oz” will be staged at the Strand Theatre next week by 110 talented young actors, singers and dancers from Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society’s Academy of Performing Arts.

The show, famous for such hits as “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and “Follow The Yellow Brick Road”, will run at the Strand from Wednesday, May 23 to Friday, May 25. It will commence at 7pm each night.

The 110 cast members range in age from five years to 18 years and have been preparing to stage their end of year show for months.

This is an ideal family night of entertainment featuring some of the best loved characters in musical theatre and film such as Dorothy, the Thinman, Brave Lion, Scarecrow and the little Munchkins.

Musical Society PRO Seamus Power said the show is being directed by Padraih Sheehan, who is extremely happy with the efforts all the children in the academy are putting in at rehearsals.
