An invitation has been extended to a local youth group to take part in a European youth project in Austria next September.
The project, entitled Youth Creates Peace, takes place in Clonmel’s twin town of Trofaiach from September 14-22.
All of the local group’s costs will be covered by the project.
The programme’s aim is to give young Europeans the possibility of an international exchange, to bring young people from different countries together in Trofaiach so they can explore their social and cultural differences and similarities, and to contribute to the development and promotion of common European values.
Workshops on human rights, peace and tolerance and respect for other cultures and people will be organised.
During the week the focus will also be placed on intercultural competences, the skills to understand what appears to be foreign, and to learn from and with each other.
The camp will celebrate the international Peace Day on September 21 with a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, while artists from Guatemala and Liberia will also participate.
Six groups of 10 young people, aged 18-24 years, will be formed to participate in workshops and events. Free time and sports activities will also be organised.
The event is being organised by Art of Reconciliation GmbH in association with Verein Art Mine, Austria.
