Excitement mounts for young stars

Twenty-two members of Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society’s Academy of Performing Arts for children and teenagers will be performing in the Society’s upcoming production of “Evita”.

Twenty-two members of Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society’s Academy of Performing Arts for children and teenagers will be performing in the Society’s upcoming production of “Evita”.

The chorus of over 60 people and the main cast, under the guidance of choral master Eamon O’Malley are currently bringing the songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award winning musical to life at rehearsals at the Strand Theatre.

There is great excitement among the youngest members of the cast.

One of them is eight year-old Cristian Nolan.”Being in Evita is great because I get to be on stage with my dad for the first time and I love all the songs and dances,” she told The Nationalist.

Cristian and 21 other members of the Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society’s Performing Arts Academy will perform “Santa Evita” in the show. .

Tickets for the show, which opens at the Strand Theatre on March 1 and runs until March 8, go on sale next Monday, February 10.

Ticket booking for the Musical Society’s patrons opened on Monday this week (February 3).

Musical Society patrons are given priority for booking tickets just like at the O2.
