St Mary’s Abbey Glencairn is a Cistercian Monastery for woman on the river Blackwater, three miles from Lismore. The Cistercian nuns are an enclosed order who live a life of prayer and work, obedience and simplicity, solitude and silence. They earn their living from their Eucharist Bread business and the design and production of greeting cards. They also have a farm where they grow vegetables and fruits. They manage a guest house, a place where people can find rest, solitude and spiritual healing. The facilities in Glencairn are in urgent need of repair and funds are badly needed to help with the building project.
The abbess Sr. Marie has given special permission for some of the nuns to be present on the night so there will be an opportunity to meet them. There will also be a petition box available so people can put in their prayer requests. The nuns will also have a selection of cards including Christmas cards and some as gaeilge.
Tickets from: O’Dwyers Pharmacy Cashel, Rockwell College reception, Nellie O’Connor, Golden, and Purcells Shop, New Inn.
