The eldest members of the youth theatre company are putting the finishing touches to Festival by Alan King. This raucous celebration of youth runs for four nights from this evening, Wednesday 30 May to Saturday, 2 June at The Hub, 49 Albert Street, Clonmel.

Festival was first commissioned by Waterford Youth Arts and was an enormous success. This energetic new production is directed by Lisa O’Brien, assisted by Aislinn McCabe, with lighting by Ciaran Cunningham and video design by Brian Dowling.

Festival uses the recent protest at The Hill Of Tara as its cultural backdrop. This brilliant and imaginative play fuses political protest with the highs and lows of attending a once in a lifetime concert. Of course as The Hill Of Tara is of deep historic value all is not as it seems and there are dark forces at play. In this world the magical and the everyday walk hand in hand. The Ancient Celts are awoken by the rumblings of progress and are determined to protect their home, but they are not alone and have the help of the teens who are equally committed to having a weekend they will never forget.

Stagecraft was founded in 1998 by Shane Dempsey and has established a long tradition of providing young performers with the highest standards of theatre training. Stagecraft are about to launch their young actors agency, a platform for members to work in professional theatre, film and television.
