The Emly Variety Players have staged many productions over the past 30 years including Musicals, Pantomimes & Dramas and ‘The Country Boy’, written by John Murphy, was staged in St Ailbe’s Hall, Emly at the beginning of March.

The drama is set in the west of Ireland in the late 1950’s and tells the story of a rural family dealing with immigration, alcoholism and the farming life at that time.

Jonas Callanan, Marie Hennessy, Paudie Heffernan, James McGrath, Sarah Croker and Nora Hartigan made up the experienced cast and Sean McManus was the producer.
