Dancing Shoes - The George Best Story, tells of the turbulent and colourful life of one of the greatest footballers the world has ever seen.

The show stars Tipperary’s own Aidan O’Neill in the title role!

Aidan is originally from Donaskeigh. He moved to Tyrone in the 90s but his mother is originally from Tipperary and his grandmother (Bridget O’Donovan) and brother (Darren O’Neill) still live there.

Aidan does an absolutely outstanding job in the role of George Best and the show has already gone down a storm in Belfast’s Grand Opera House and Dublin’s Grand Canal Theatre – UCH is the only venue outside of Dublin to host the show, which is currently touring the UK.

From his childhood days kicking a tennis ball against a gable wall on the Cregagh Estate to a life of fame, fortune and controversy, this story has it all.

Combining the talents of two of Northern Ireland’s most popular playwrights with the superb songwriting talents of Glasgow’s JJ Gilmour and Belfast’s Pat Gribben, Dancing Shoes is packed with great characters, beautiful songs and trademark Belfast humour.

Playwright Marie Jones, said, “This is quite possibly the most exciting project I have been involved with. The momentum is huge, the attention from the public shows what a hero George Best was to the people of Northern Ireland, and this show immortalises his life, the highs and the lows.”

Dancing Shoes, the first and only home grown Northern Irish Musical celebrates the life of an iconic hero and the balletic grace he brought to the football field. Under the direction of Peter Sheridan, (Shawshank Redemption, West End) this much anticipated musical features a dynamite cast of professional actors including Aidan O’Neill in the role of Best, Conor Grimes, Paddy Jenkins, Marty Maguire, Packy Lee, Matthew McElhinney, Alana Kerr, Maria Connolly and Kerri Quinn.
