The Enjoy Travel Show was hosted by the Clonmel Park Hotel when people of Irish decent came to Clonmel from all over the world to take part in a weekend of Country & Irish music, song and dance.

Local man Mick Mackey represents the English-based, Irish-owned company that organises Country & Irish music, song and dance holidays and cruises all over the world.

The week end in Clonmel was a total sell out with B&B and guest houses also booked out the music and craic started at 4pm on Friday and did not finish until about 4-30pm on Monday.

Deputy Mayor Gabrielle Egan came along on Friday night to officially open the event.

Enjoy Travel launched their Showcase Talent Contest at the week end and the winner was from County Tyrone, Gavin McClone, who will go to Portugal next year to compete in the grand final for a prize of €2000 and a contract for a year’s work on the Enjoy Travel events.

A young local family group, The Lonergans, were second, and they will compete in a wild card sing off out of which the two best runners up will go forward to the grand final - there are seven heats in all to be run off

Enjoy Travel would like on behalf of all the patrons who enjoyed their stay in Clonmel to thank the Clonmel Park Hotel for their hospitality, service, magnificent food and their lovely staff - what a week end you gave us.

Thanks to all the B&B and guest houses for their hospitality and friendship, and finally a big thank you to all the local people who came along and supported the event and made all the visitors to the town feel so welcome.

Plans are already being made for next year’s event.
