Bhi an craic go hiontach le linn Seachtain na Gaeilge at Our Lady of Mercy Girls Primary School, Cahir.
Seachtain na Gaeilge proved a very busy week for both the pupils and the staff of Our Lady of Mercy Primary School as they embraced the spirit of Irish culture, song and dance.
Second and fourth classes were very energetic teaching “Scipeail ‘dti mo Lou”, “The military two step” and “Fallai Luimnigh” to all the classes.
On Friday morning there was a mini ceili for the junior classes and in the afternoon there was a monster ceili in the school hall catering for all the classes from first to sixth class. There were some very fit, but exhausted pupils leaving the school grounds by the time 3pm had arrived on Friday evening.
In honour of the Feast of St. Patrick, all the children were encouraged to dress up in an Irish themed costume for assembly on Friday. A wonderful selection of Irish songs and poems were performed by each class in turn during assembly.
Throughout the week there were other popular “Seachtain na Gaeilge” activities including a “giant” table quiz involving pupils from Rang I to Rang VI, an Irish treasure hunt and a variety of art work based on the theme of St. Patrick.
Irish stories composed by both second and fourth class pupils were read to the Junior classes throughout the week. Bhaineamar an taitneamh agus craic as Seachtain na Gaeilge i Scoil Naisiunta Mhuire na Trocaire, go hairithe the fifth and sixth class wonderful rendition of “Mamma Mia” as gaeilge!
