€10m funding for South Tipperary roads
Minister Alan Kelly has announced funding of over €10 Million for improvement, repair, maintenance and development of South Tipperary roads.
The Minister stated: “As the local Minister in the Department of Transport, providing funding for Tipperary roads has been a priority for me and as such it has received a very substantial allocation. I understand the concerns that local people have about the condition of their roads and I have made sure that those concerns are considered when this funding has been allocated”.
“The Restoration Improvement Grant is for South Tipp is €5.1m. This substantial funding means that more work can be carried out on roads that need restoration and maintenance. The Restoration Maintenance Grant will be €1.844m and this will be used for surface dressing and has been maintained at 2011 levels. This is a substantial budget for works on many roads across Tipperary. I am also announcing specific allocations for the following improvements and safety works:
€229k for Winter Maintenance Scheme; €300k for Regional Road Signposting Programme; €100K for Bridge Inspections; €60k for Roundabout Junction of R707-0, R707-1 and R884; €30k for the L4110, Lizzie’s BRIDGE, Emly to Ballywire Road; €21.5 k for the R639 junction of Cahir Road with Windmill Road; €15k for R689 junction and L3202 Cahir to Fethard Road; €15k R690 junction with L6119 Coalbrook to Boulea Road.
