An important collection takes place this coming weekend (July 2 and 3) in the parish of Cashel and Rosegreen to raise the necessary funds for the restoration of the Sacristy in St John the Baptist Church, in Cashel.
The present condition of the leaking roof and unstable ceiling renders the Sacristy a serious health and safety issue which must be addressed forthwith. As parishioners will know, a section of the ceiling collapsed some months ago.
During recent weeks parishioners have been circulated with information regarding the various aspects of the renovation and its projected cost which is in the region of €E250,000.
Despite present financial difficulties faced by many people, the parish of Cashel and Rosegreen has no option but to undertake the planned urgent renovation as soon as possible.
Speaking earlier this week on behalf of the Parish Finance Committee and the Parish Pastoral Council, Fr Christy O’Dwyer, parish priest, stated : “We rely on the generosity of parishioners to enable us to meet the present serious challenge which faces us as a parish. The urgency of the renovation could scarcely be exaggerated. I appeal to every parishioner to give generously to the collection this weekend”.
