This reallocation of Capital Expenditure will be spent on shovel-ready projects that have been submitted by the local councils and also on the essential winter maintenance scheme. Part of the agreement for the extra funding is that these projects will be completed by Nov 30th, before the winter season.

This extra funding has come about via the introduction of competitive tendering processes for other projects which has yielded significant savings that can be utilised for road improvements.
