A Clonmel woman has been nominated for a top retail excellence award.

Niamh Falvey, of Sam McCauleys in the Poppyfields Shopping Centre, has been named as a finalist for the Rising Star of the Year Award in The Retail Excellence Ireland Awards.

Despite the personal award, Niamh saw her achievement as a team effort. “I am delighted to be nominated but see it as more of an endorsement of our team here in the Poppyfields store rather than a personal award”.

The REI Awards in partnership with Barclaycard is the benchmark by which the best in Irish retail are judged and is the largest awards programme of its type. It boasts over 600 total entries annually

Niamh, whose been working in the store for nearly nine years, was put forward for the award by her own company.

“I was nominated by my company based on my overall work performance levels, there were written submissions based on questionnaires, followed by an interview”.

Niamh is remaining optimistic of her chances. “I am thrilled to be even considered for this award but obviously it would be fantastic to win it”.

Finalists were selected following a rigorous examination process involving, Application Review, Mystery Shopping and a Store Audit process.

The good times won’t be ending anytime soon for Niamh, who is also getting married later this year.
