Carrick-on-Suir Lions Club to celebrate top award

A celebratory evening to mark Carrick-on-Suir Lions Club winning the Lions Club of the Year Award will take place in The Carraig Hotel on Friday, April 19.

A celebratory evening to mark Carrick-on-Suir Lions Club winning the Lions Club of the Year Award will take place in The Carraig Hotel on Friday, April 19.

The function will also celebrate the Club’s success in Lions Club International’s annual Young Ambassador Award, which recognises and encourages young people, who are actively involved in their local communities. Carrick Lions Club’s representative has reached the national final four times since 2008.

In other Lions Club news, there was a large and varied agenda at the Club’s March meeting chaired by its President Stephanie Keating.

New member Denis Coghlan gave feedback from the recent Zone meeting and Kieran Doran presented a detailed report of the Lions of Ireland Annual Convention in Athlone.

Stephanie spoke about the Intel Leadership Workshops in Clonmel.

John Butler, on behalf of the golf classic sub-committee, presented a progress report on the organisation of the event, which is one of its main annual fund-raising projects.

John also reported on the Lions Club U-15 soccer competition. The local team was successful in early rounds and was due to play a Cork team in the quarter final.

The Club’s annual charity walk takes place on Tuesday, May 21.
