Clonmel’s Town Clerk, Billy Doyle, is to retire next month and in recognition of his service to the town he is to be honoured by the Council he has served.
On Friday, November 18 Clonmel Borough Council has agreed to hold a civic reception, the highest honour a council can give, in honour of Mr. Doyle.
At last week’s meeting of the Borough Council the honour was proposed by Mayor Darren Ryan and seconded by Cllr. Richie Molloy.
Mr. Doyle has worked in the public service for 40 years. He spent most of his working life with South Tipperary County Council before moving around the corner to Clonmel Borough Council in 2001, as Town Clerk.
He is the first Clonmelman to have served as Town Clerk of his home town.
He will officially retire from his post on Friday, November 11.
