A number of savvy Tipperary business people have found a way to outsmart the recession by managing to generate more than €1 million worth of business. The Winning Post Chapter of BNI (Business Network International) this week celebrated surpassing the €1 million mark this week by promoting each other through word of mouth and referrals.
The Winning Post Chapter who meet in The Wytchway Inn Bar & Restaurant, Thurles, each Thursday morning consists of local businesses and trades including a solicitor, numerous trades people and an accountant, is one of the first in Ireland to generate such a high volume of work among its members in just 3 years.
All members of the Winning Post chapter act as a sales force for each other by passing new business and giving referrals. BNI is a professional business organisation established 27 years ago globally. Local business people benefit from BNI’s unique referral system which is similar to having dozens of sales people working as part of your team, whose role is to refer contacts and business within their group.
Speaking of the group’s achievement John Lacy, (Chapter Director) said “BNI is all about word of mouth marketing and referrals which is a strategy that really cannot be beaten. In BNI you reap what you sow. The reason we are successful is that we have high calibre members in our chapter who are driven in growing their own business and the business of all members. This landmark of €1 million is proof that it is possible to grow in the face of a recession with the support of professionals and structured BNI training.”
Also speaking of the success of The Winning Post Chapter, Sandra Hart, Executive Director of BNI, Ireland South and West said “I am extremely proud of the Winning Post Chapter who continue to prove that through working together and supporting each other they can successfully build their businesses. They have worked extremely hard to reach such a milestone and I hope they will continue to do so long in to the future. We have many successful chapter meetings throughout Tipperary and surrounding counties and we welcome all business people to come to a meeting as a guest.
