Clonmel Chamber has launched a range of exclusive offers for local organisations seeking to manage their costs. The offers will see Co. Tipperary companies, sole traders and not for profit groups avail of discounted electricity, gas and motor fuel.
Speaking at the launch of the initiative Clonmel Chamber CEO Brian Cleary said that all of the deals were being put in place to help businesses in areas that often have the highest costs.
“What we are doing with the Chamber Fuel Card and the exclusive offer with Electric Ireland is to offer discounts that will enable businesses to save money.
Last year we trialled the Electric Ireland offer and we had an excellent uptake. One local business owner saved just over €1,600 on his annual bill while another business owner with a number of properties saved in excess of €10,000.
It is our aim now to facilitate more savings for local businesses so that they can be more competitive and profitable” said the Chamber CEO.
Clonmel Chamber is the first Chamber of Commerce in Ireland to offer a suite of offers such as these.
The Chamber Fuel Card enables users to save an average of 4c to 6c per litre of petrol or diesel while the Electric Ireland agreement offers savings of between 10% and 16%.
The Chamber CEO also said that the organisation has just signed a contract with a global provider of debit and credit card processing services to provide discounted fees for local businesses.
This, he said, will be of particular relevance to retailers and operators in the hospitality sector.
“I am delighted to say that we are the very first Chamber in Ireland to put together a suite of offers like this.
“We believe that it is our role to facilitate the success of local companies on a number of levels. This initiative is one such level” said Mr Cleary.
“Local businesses told us very clearly that energy, motor fuel and card processing fees needed to be reduced. We took these suggestions and created a suite of discounts”.
