The annual Kickham Country Weekend was held in Mullinahone over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The event commemorates the life and times of local poet and patriot Charles J Kickham and this year marks the 130th anniversary of his death.

It is the 30th staging of the weekend - the first marked the centenary of Kickham’s death in 1982 - and all events were attended by big crowds.

The official opening took place in Mullinahone Community Centre on Friday night and was performed by local woman, Dr Catriona Clutterbuck, Department of English, UCD.

One of the guest speakers was Dr Frank Holohan who spoke on the trial and execution of Fr Nicholas Sheehy in Clonmel in 1776.
