Gardai believe that the Clonmelman shot dead in Golden on Wednesday morning was the intended target of the attack.

30 year-old Shane Rossiter died when he was shot shortly before 7am at a house in Chapel Lane, Golden. Three of the people inside the house went to answer a knock on the door and the gunman fired two shots from what is believed to have been a shotgun.

He was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel, where he was later pronounced dead.

Shane Rossiter was the son of Siobhan and Pat Rossiter.

Gardai believe that his murder may be linked to a gang-related feud.

Ten years ago another son of the couple’s, Brian Rossiter, died three days after being found unconscious in a cell at Clonmel Garda station.
