A super fit and strong 19 year-old Carrick-on-Suir man has bench pressed his way to an All-Ireland title.

Gerard Butler from Carrickbeg won the All-Ireland Junior Bench Press Championship in Galway earlier this month. He competed against 50 contestants from all over the country for the title.

He trains in Carrick-on-Suir Fitness Gym and is coached by former “Ireland’s Strongest Man” title holder Ray O’Dwyer, who said all members of the Gym are ‘over the moon’ with his achievements.

This is Gerard’s first attempt and 1st win in a national competition. He will continue on with his power lifting career and has ‘great potential and a bright future’ said Ray O’Dwyer.
