Tipperary Town should be the new administrative capital of the County when North and South Councils amalgamate.
The proposal was made at the July meeting of Tipperary Town Council after Town Manager Claire Curley outlined some of the changes that will take place including the number of councillors for the entire county will now be forty and that council meetings will take place alternatively in Nenagh and Clonmel.
‘Our town bears the name of the county and given that Minister Hogan wishes to save money. €20m was spent on these two buildings and they are the most modern and up to date facilities available. We are in a prime position to offer our offices for the administrative capital of the county,’ proposed Cllr. Denis Leahy.
