Receiver appointed to Clonmel food plant

A receiver has been appointed to food processing plant Ribworld in Clonmel where sixty five people are employed.

A receiver has been appointed to food processing plant Ribworld in Clonmel where sixty five people are employed.

Mr. Liam Dowdall of Smith and Williamson Freaney has been appointed by Bank of Scotland as Receiver and Manager of STGN Limited, which trades as Ribworld.

Ribworld is a specialised processor of vacuum packed cooked pork ribs.

Mr Dowdall intends to sell the business as a going concern. It will continue to operate at full capacity with the 65 jobs at the plant remaining in place.

Mr. Dowdall spoke with employees at the company following his appointment, where he confirmed his confidence that a buyer will be found quickly.

Ribworld is one of Europe’s largest producers of pre-cooked pork ribs. It operates a state-of-the-art processing operation in Clonmel with an experienced skilled labour force and has a strong core market in Ireland and abroad, principally in Scandinavia.
