Since the summer months people living in the Lisbalting area, just off the main Clonmel/Ballyneale road, have had to endure serious flooding in the area.
The roads, and in particular a busy junction, is constantly flooded at Lisbalting causing great difficulties for residents, motorists and the farming community.
“It’s been going on now for far too long, some attempts were made to fix it but things were made worse,” said Brendan Cahill, a local farmer.
He explained that the flooding problem arose as a result of the very heavy rain during the summer months causing serious flooding on roads that were never flooded and damage caused to a pipe by a truck was a contributory factory.
“The Council came to work on it for some weeks but it did not immprove matters, just made them worse,” he said.
Mr Cahill said that the Council had returned and were co-operating with locals to try and resolve the problem.
“At the moment the roads are hard to pass because of the amount of water and the deteriorating condition of the surface of the roads. It has to be sorted out fairly quickly,” he said.
He added that two pipes were used to bring water under a bridge at the junction but that one of those pipes was now blocked and that had to be dealt with.
“Hopefully the Council can solve this problem because it has been going on for a long time,” said Brendan .
