In an attempt to raise funds for the replacement of the local defibrillator batteries and electrodes/pads, Cahir and District Lions Club set up a used book shop at the rear of the Lazy Bean in the Square.

They appealed for used books to be donated to the cause and are delighted with the response.

Offers of books came from far and wide and in a short amount of time a huge range of books was amassed on a diverse range of topics and genres.

All books are €1, so you don’t have to break the bank, and its all for a very good cause.

Books are still needed as the shop will remain open for another two weeks. So if you have any unwanted books hanging around just call Seanie Lonergan 0863913639 or any member of the Cahir Lions Club who will arrange for collection.

Seanie says: “Defibrillators are not a decoration; they are proven lifesavers in the locality.

“The group has six defibrillators in Cahir town, one in Ardfinnan, Burncourt, New Inn, Ballylooby, Clogheen and one soon will be placed in Goatenbridge.

This will be the last defibrillator fundraiser for the next seven years as the new battery packs will last that long.”
