A Tipperary bred horse is strongly fancied to win the prestigious Rolex 4 star horse trials in Kentucky this weekend.

Ballylaffin Bracken was bred by Catherine Long of Ballylaffin, Ardfinnan and his sire Ricardo Z is owned by Kedrah House Stud in Cahir.

Ricardo Z is the leading sire in the world for producing event horses.

This horse has further Tipperary connections as it was produced as a young horse here by Paul Donovan from Killusty before being spotted by Clare Ryan from Loughkent, New Inn who organised the sale to its present American rider Kristen Schmoltze .

Kristin is regular visitor to Tipperary on horse shopping trips and has five horses in her Philadelphia based competion farm by Ricardo, one called Ricardo Time was bred by Jerry Halligan from Rathkea, Tipperary.

Tom and Magette Meagher of Kedrah House Stud and Clare Ryan and Paul Donovan are 
part of a large contingent travelling to 
Kentucky this weekend to this prestigious 
Equine event.
