An invitation to the Troika to visit South Tipperary to “experience the reality of their lengthy ‘to do’ list” has been extended by the county coucnil.
The proposal came from Cllr Tom Wood who said that “in recognition of the serious financial pressures experienced by many people in South Tipperary do to the bailout of the banking institutions, this council invite members of the troika, our un-elected government, to a specially convened meeting.”
Cllr Wood said he was not suggesting the involvement of the troika was unnecessary but after eight austerity budgets “the ordinary person has reached their limit.”
“As an elected, democratic institution here it’s about time members representing the troika make themselves available to the community.”
Cllr Pat English seconded the proposal.
