Leading fashion retailer The Edinburgh Woollen Mill has officially opened its sixth store in Ireland at The Showgrounds Shopping Centre, Clonmel.

The Mayor Of Clonmel, Cllr. Siobhan Ambrose, performing the opening of the store commented that “this was another positive sign that Clonmel is becoming a significant retail destination within the South East, with the Edinburgh Woollen Mill adding to the overall shopping experience of the town. It is also a sign of what can be achieved by a consistent marketing strategy at The Showgrounds in spite of difficult trading conditions nationally”.

The Edinburgh Woollen Mill, renowned for its cashmere ranges, was established in 1946 and opened its first retail store in Scotland in 1972. Since then the company has grown into a diverse retail group, which includes over 192 mainstream High Street stores, along with speciality tourist and destination outlets throughout the UK and Ireland.

The new 4,000 square feet store in Clonmel includes high quality, great value fashion lines for both ladies and gents, including leisurewear and golf ranges.

Showgrounds Shopping Centre Manager Julian Smith is also delighted with the new addition to the scheme. “Following on from the recent opening of Argos and Luigi’s, this latest addition to the Centre will add greatly to the retail fashion offer here, and we fully expect to build upon our 73% occupancy rate during the course of 2011”, he said.
