There was great joy and anticipation last Friday evening as Santa Claus was driven up Main Street and arrived at the main stage in the Market Yard where hundreds of people were waiting to see him. Kids screamed with excitement as Santa roared Ho! Ho! Ho! and made his way to the main stage.

Previous to the main man’s arrival, children from the local primary schools sang Christmas carols to entertain the waiting crowd and beautiful melodies were played by the C.J. Kickham Brass and Reed band.

Tipp Mid West radio hosted the event with MC radio presenter Breda Ryan keeping the action going. The Tird/Chamber of Commerce made a special presentation to the world champion medal winners from the Tipperary Kickboxing club and their coach Craig Sutton.

The finale event, the switching on of the Tipperary town Christmas lights, ended with the crowd joining in a united countdown and huge applause. Christmas 2014 has been launched.
