New playground a huge boost for Ballingarry

Ballingarry Community Playground will be officially opened this Sunday, September 2 at 1pm by former Councillor Susan Meagher.

Ballingarry Community Playground will be officially opened this Sunday, September 2 at 1pm by former Councillor Susan Meagher.

Children’s favourites Peppa Pig and Fireman Sam will be on hand to help Susan at the grand opening. You can have your photo taken with Peppa and Sam as well as enjoying lots of tasty refreshments and having fun with the various activities that have been organised for this special occasion.

Children are being encouraged to dress up as their favourite fancy dress costumes to win the prize for best dressed on the day. Grandparents are not being forgotten about in the fun and games as there is a Glamorous Granny competition and a Grandfathers Penalty Shootout competition. If that is not enough entertainment for the family, there is a slow bicycle race that is sure to have all present spinning around with laughter.

Add to that list of a activities a Wellie Throwing competition, a Jelly Bean competition, balloons, music, tasty treats like crepes and you are sure to have a great time at the new playground which is located near the Church of the Assumption in Ballingarry village.

The Playground Committee have been hard at work since the idea of a community playground first came about. The selection of quality playground equipment is testament to the hard work and research that they have put into the project and their hard work is not done yet. The Committee plan to fundraise further in order to provide seating for parents and guardians while the kids play as well as outdoor adult exercise equipment so that parents can have get some exercise while the kids play.

Come along on Sunday and see for yourself all of the work that has gone in to making this playground a wonderful addition to the community of Ballingarry. You may even win a prize on the day.
