Following the traditional blessing of the hounds, at which Rev. Canon Breen PP and Rev Canon Fryday officiated, led by joint Masters Paul Ronan, Liam Kearney and Tim Hyde, Huntsman Derry Donegan and Whipper-In Gavin Shorten, over one hundred mounted followers moved off to the traditional first draw.

From the railway at Ballybough Bridge hounds ran towards John Halley’s Gallops, right handed towards the Killenaule Road. Turning here they ran back across the Ballybough Road almost to Fethard Town and to ground near Woodvale Walk.

Incidentally, the excellent 2013 calendar, containing some excellent photographs of the hounds and followers was on sale on Opening Meet day. Produced by Ms Wendy Donegan and Ms Jane Farrell, the calendars are really a work of art with the photographs well worth framing. Copies are on sale locally, priced at €10. All proceeds towards Tipperary Hunt funds. – E.A.N.
