Coup for Cahir as it hosts
SFAI All-Ireland Council

Cahir hosted a meeting of the Schoolboys Football Association of Ireland All-Ireland Council over the weekend.

Cahir hosted a meeting of the Schoolboys Football Association of Ireland All-Ireland Council over the weekend.

It was the first time the SFAI Council held their meeting in South Tipperary.

It was a proud occasion of the Tipperary Southern schoolboy league and for the Cahir Park club who made a presentation to SFAI chairman Michael O’Brien to mark the occasion.

For the first time the TSSDL is represented on the national executive of the SFAI by John Early of Clerihan who attended the council meeting.

The Counci meeting was attended by up to forty Council members and twelve national executive members.

At the meeting on Saturday the draw for the final 32 of the schoolboys FAI cup was made with teams from Clonmel Town and Cahir still in the draw.

During the meeting it was also announced that Cahir would again host the inter league All-Ireland finals in 2013.

“The inter league All-Ireland finals held in Cahir in 2012 were a fantastic success and everybody was very impressed with the facilities made available by Cahir Park and by the town,” said John Early.

John said that not only was a decision taken to allow Cahir host the All-Ireland finals in 2013 but that the council members agreed to give serious consideration to Cahir becoming the permanent venue for the prestigious finals.

“It was a very successful meeting.

“It was a bonus to get the meeting for Cahir and everything went well over the weekend,” said John.
