Clonmel children learn about pets

Uncle Mikes Pet World, Clonmel offered a free educational visit to some of local National Schools for the month of November.

Uncle Mikes Pet World, Clonmel offered a free educational visit to some of local National Schools for the month of November.

On his visit to participating schools, Uncle Mike displayed and talked about a variety of animals from Rabbits to Raccoons and Bearded Dragons to ‘Lucky’ the Barn Owl from his own private collection.

Each school then had the oppourtunity to enter Uncle Mike’s Colouring Competition.

From the hundreds of excellent entries received it was a challenging task to pick out the well deserved winners who each received a €50 gift voucher from Uncle Mike’s to buy a pet of their choice.

The prize giving was held at Uncle Mikes Pet World on Saturday, December 8.

The 1st Prize winners were:

Yousef Sallam (missing from photo) - Ss Peter & Pauls, Sam Greene - Grange NS, Eoghan Walsh - St Marys and Anna Galgan Presentation Primary. Runners up were: Jakub Galgan & Cameron Dahill - Ss Peter & Pauls, Jane Mansfield - Grange NS, Eilidh Moore (missing from photo) - Grange NS, Josh Denn and Killian Fitzgerald - St Marys, Niamh Carey - Presentation Primary and Katie Vallo & Molly Ahearne - Sisters of Charity.

Also present in the picture is Michael Hogan from Uncle Mikes Pet World and ‘Alfie’ the Alpaca who can be seen presently at Santas Live Animal Grotto at Uncle Mikes Pet World.
