The state of the art Pharmaceutical manufacturing and R&D facility at MSD Ballydine employs 450 highly skilled personnel.
Last year, the facility set out a challenge to achieve top quartile performance in its employee safety results.
Through the deployment of a site Behavioural Based Safety (BBS) programme and the full engagement of all employees, the site has now achieved world class safety performance in the workplace.
Based on the site’s excellent Safety Metrics for 2012, the MSD company president awarded the Ballydine site with the President’s award for Safety Excellence. In order to mark this significant achievement the company announced a significant donation of €22,000 to the employees’ top three local charities of choice.
Following a voting process at the Ballydine site, employees picked their top three local charities as follows: South Tipperary Hospice, Clonmel; South Tipperary Cancer C.A.R.E., Clonmel and St Vincent de Paul - Clonmel and Carrick on Suir (St Colman’s Youth Conference).
General Manager for MSD Ballydine, David O’Connell, stated - “We are humbled by the tremendous work that these local charities do in the community and we are honoured to be able to mark our excellent local safety performance at the Ballydine site with a €22,000 donation to the employees’ top three charities”.
