Another big Lotto win for ‘Lucky Tipperary’
A lucky married couple who declared themselves ’absolutely thrilled to bits’ called into National Lottery offices on Monday to collect their whopping €500,000 prize.
They won this with a €3 Quickpick ticket purchased in the SuperValu store, Main Street, Cashel on Friday for last Friday night’s EuroMillions Plus draw. €500,000 is the top prize in EuroMillions Plus, an add-on game which is available exclusively to EuroMillions players in Ireland.
This is the second big Lottery win for Tipperary county within the same week.
Last Wednesday saw the biggest Lotto jackpot of the year so far - €10,613,747 – go to a Tipperary family syndicate. That makes a total of over €11 million in prize money won by Tipperary county within the first month of 2013.
Monday’s happy couple, who wish their win to remain private, are currently house hunting:
‘We saw a lovely house last week but when we checked again this morning, it was ‘sale agreed’. Now that our budget’s gone up quite a bit, we’re really going to have lots more fun house-hunting in the coming months’, they smiled. The lucky couple found out they had won their great prize only on Sunday as they had been away for the weekend.
‘We have a young family so to treat ourselves, we’d love to go on a real safari in Africa. We’re big fans of Dublin Zoo but it would be great to go further afield and see the wild animals in their own surroundings – kids go wild for that kind of thing. I’d also love to visit South Africa. All these things are now possible. We really can’t believe this had happened to us’, they smiled over a glass of champagne in National Lottery offices in Dublin.
The lucky husband said: ‘I’d love to go see the Ireland/England Rugby match in the Aviva next weekend but I never thought I’d be able to afford tickets for the game. When we get home, I’m going to have a big search on the internet to see what’s there. I’m also planning to go whale-watching in Cork, but thankfully, you don’t have to win a big Lottery prize to do that’, he smiled.
‘Both of our parents have been so good to us in the past, and all our brothers and sisters, we’d really like to thank them for their helpfullness to us. We’re planning a very special dinner out in the next few weeks to celebrate this win and say thanks’, they finished.
