South Tipperary Beekeepers Honey Show which was held recently in the Central Technical Institute, Clonmel is regarded as one of the top Honey shows in Ireland and draws entries from all over the country.

This year they had entries from Aras on Uachtarain who started beekeeping with the help of Clonmel man Denis Ryan and came away with top prize in the Novice class ,

The hard working committee were happy with the number of entries this year as with the bad summer honey was scarce but judges were impressed with the quality.

Entries from new members was well up and this is very encouraging as beekeeping in the Tipperary has a long history and tradition.

The Honey show had a fantastic display of all hive products, including heather honey, run honey, comb and frame honey plus beeswax polish, candle making and cosmetics.

Denis Ryan gave a demonstration on candle making and Jim Power a demonstration on getting honey ready for sale

Gerry Ryan was the overall winner collecting the Bulmer Cup for the most points,

The Lady Beekeepers did themselves proud with Emma Williams, Aoife Ni Giolla Coda and Irene Power winning in numerous classes.

The chairman Ann Horan made a presentation to Norman Walsh for his great support to the STBA honey show over the past 17 years as a judge and to thank him and his wife Rosemary for all their help as Norman announced his retirment this year.
