The Mary Early Pharmacy on Carrick-on-Suir’s New Street has been renamed Haven Pharmacy Lannens as the business has joined a co-operative of independent pharmacies.
There has been a pharmacy on New Street for well over 30 year and many local families are loyal customers since it first opened.
“Pharmacists Paddy Meade and Mary Early served the community well in their time. I’m now the custodian of that responsibility and it is one I take seriously,” said Haven Pharmacy Lannen’s proprietor Patrick Lannen.
“The time seemed right to move the pharmacy forward in an exciting and new direction. As Haven Pharmacy Lannens,I am now part of a nationwide co-operative of independent pharmacists,” he explained.
“The benefit of being a member of a co-op is that I can get better deals from suppliers and share these savings with my customers. Being part of a large group of pharmacies gives me the resources and the most up to date clinical information and research to better serve my customers.”
There was a launch day for Haven Pharmacy Lannens last Friday, February 14 where great deals and discounts were offered to customers. A tremendous crowd attended, despite the bad weather. Tipp FM’s afternoon radio show broadcast from the pharmacy. There was face painting and balloons and well-known local personality, Paddy Finnucane, cut the ribbon.
“The commitment to my customers is one of the main reasons I am part of Haven Pharmacy. I have all the advantages of a large group without losing the connection with the community I work in. I’m motivated by meeting those needs first. Those needs are evolving and to that end we are expanding our services.
“We provide flu vaccination, blister packing of medicine, blood pressure and blood glucose screening with more to come. We have two consultation rooms for health screening but also for a quiet word. This is an exciting direction for the pharmacy.”
