Clonmel meeting on €500m EirGrid project

There was a busy turnout at an Open Day held by EirGrid at the Clonmel Park Hotel.
Among the visitors were councillors Eddie O’Meara, Sean Lonergan and John Crosse, chairman of South Tipperary County Council.
The Open Day is part of the second phase of public consultation for EirGrid’s proposed Grid Link Project, which began on August 27 and will run until October 22.
The EirGrid project team was on hand to provide information about the estimated €500 million project that consists of a new high voltage power line linking Leinster and Munster.
The Grid Link Project will help secure future electricity supply, empower growth in the south and east of Ireland and enable Ireland to meet its 40% renewable electricity target.
