New Clerihan store to create nine new jobs
The lack of a shop to purchase anything has been a huge inconvenience to the community of Clerihan and the surrounding area since the closure of the local shop in 2011.
This is about to change with the reopening of the store under the Daybreak banner this Friday, November 2.
Behind the venture are local residents Triona and Dean Hand. Dean, who comes from New Zealand, moved to Ireland after marrying Triona in 2005 and they have lived locally since. Triona is a native of Cahir and her family, the Meaghers, run Kedrah House Stud and a Veterinary Practice in Cahir.
Triona and Dean are very enthusiastic about their new venture and intend to supply and provide to the exact needs of the locality in the ultra modern, bright and welcoming facility.
Dean, who has many years of experience in hospitality and retail management, says - “Although these are difficult times to start a new business, I am confident that the community will recognise the need for support and will shop locally”.
Dean says that the supermarket will create up to 9 jobs all employed from the locality.
They will open from 7am to 9pm seven days a week.
Dean is a firm believer in that the community can prosper by self help and that supporting your local shop will return the wealth to the locality through its employment of local people and local producers and service providers.
The decison to open the new store has been widely welcomed in the community.
