New eircom fibre location for Tipperary town and Roscrea

eircom is constructing Ireland’s largest fibre network and the latest phase in the roll out will bring eircom’s fibre network to an additional 300,000 homes and businesses across Ireland.

This next phase of the network roll out is scheduled to finish in December 2014 and will reach one million premises.

The latest announcement includes Roscrea and Tipperary town which sees a total of five locations in county Tipperary included in the fibre roll out plan. Clonmel, Nenagh and Thurles were included in Phase IV which was announced last month.

Herb Hribar, CEO eircom Group, said - “We remain fully committed to our investment strategy in high speed broadband and constructing Ireland’s largest fibre network is a key part of our business plan. The new fibre network will provide broadband speeds of up to 70Mb to our customers by next summer. We have included two new locations in Tipperary in our roll out plan and we are committed to ensuring our customers across the country will be able to avail of high speed broadband”.

eircom’s fibre footprint has already reached more than 150,000 premises and it is hoped that the network, which is available to all operators, will deliver services to customers in the first half of next year. For further information on eircom’s fibre network visit www.nextgenerationnetwork.ie
