Shops and shoppers are winners in Cahir Buy Local campaign
€500 in vouchers for the local shops in Cahir were the top prize in the Christmas ‘Buy Local’ Campaign - and the lucky winner was local man Gerry Grufferty, when the draw took place just before Christmas.
Gerry wasn’t the only lucky local winner in the main draw - and the search is now on to find even more winners in the bonus brochure draw - have you checked your numbers?
A ‘Buy Local’ Campaign was launched by Traders in Cahir last November in association with the Promoting Cahir Group. The Campaign was aimed at encouraging more people to come to Cahir and shop, thereby promoting more local trade especially over Christmas.
First of all the idea of a brochure which would highlight local traders Christmas offers as well as details of the free parking available in Cahir was discussed. Local traders were then asked, through the local papers, to send in details of their special offers to be included for free on the brochure. There was a good response, in total 54 local traders replied.
The brochure was then printed and distributed through An Post in Cahir and surrounding areas and it was also available on the counters of most of the local shops.
As part of this Buy Local Campaign, stickers bearing the Buy Local logo were distributed to shops along with a cover letter which reminded traders that every time a person spent over €10 in participating shops they would be automatically entered into a draw that carried a prize of €500 in local shop vouchers!
For an extra chance for loyal local shoppers to be in with a chance of winning, each brochure was uniquely numbered and it too carried a prize of €400 in local shop vouchers.
The draw for both of these great prizes took place at Cahir Farmers Market on the last Christmas Market before Christmas, on Saturday, December 22.
The brochure number draw was carried out by a random number selector, witnessed by several stall holders at the Market. Brochure number 929 was drawn and so do please check your brochure to see if you are the winner of the €400 in local shop vouchers.
If you have the brochure numbered 929 please call 0861022014 to claim your prize. Please note that if the holder of the brochure with this number does not claim the prize, within the next seven days, then the draw will be held again, to make sure some lucky person can benefit from the prize.
The Buy Local draw came next, on the day, and Gerry Grufferty was the first name pulled out. Congratulations to Gerry who won €500 in local shop vouchers.
The lukcy winners included: An O’Connor’s Family Butcher voucher for €30, which was sponsored by Cahir Cabs, was won by Chris O’Dwyer; Denise McEniry won a beautiful cookie jar box kindly donated by Kate of The Cookie Jar and Amanda Fitzgerald won a lovely selection of sweets kindly donated by Skellie’s Sweet Emporium.
Organisers of the draw expressed thanks to Cahir Farmers Market who kindly provided a lovely place to host the draws; the sponsors of the prizes; Charlie O’Neill and Johnny Casey who kindly provided backing music; the Cahir Pantomime Society who entertained by singing carols for all who were present; Cahir House Hotel and Dolan’s Supervalu who donated delicious hot mince pies for the occasion; Con Trass who provided tasty hot apple juice for everyone and South Tipperary County Council for their support and funding of the successful ‘Buy Local’ campaign.
