South Tipp’s representative in the Macra Mr Personality competition failed to take one of the top prizes, but was a great ambassador for the county’s Macra clubs, when the competition festival took place recently.

The Mr. Personality Festival 2012 took place in the Springhill court hotel, in Kilkenny, in the last week of April. The festival was hosted by Kilkenny Macra and was sponsored by Kilkenny/Carlow and District Farm Relief Services.

27 contestants from all over Ireland travelled to the Marble City for a fun filled weekend where they were interviewed on stage with an optional party piece if they were brave enough, completed challenges and were interviewed by the three judges – Irene Maloney, former Munster Vice President of Macra, Clara Walsh, Midland 103 FM and John Nolan, Freshford Macra.

The result was announced at 12 midnight on Saturday night with Eoghan O’Neill from Laois becoming the seventh Mr. Personality. In second place was Aonghus O’Brien from Wicklow and third was Niall Doyle from Wexford. Eoghan was presented with a €E500 cheque, a perpetual trophy and a weekend break in any of the Brennan Hotels. Aonghus received a trophy and a cheque for €E300 and a mid week break in any of the Brennan Hotels and Niall received a trophy, €E200 and a break in the Aspect Hotel.
