Text Alert system to start in Cahir

A Text Alert public meeting was recently held in Cahir.

Chaired by Bill Coffey, Sgt Brendan Franklin and Sgt. Carol O’Leary also attended. Peter Butler, TASK Community Care, gave a presentation on Text Alert. A committee was elected. How it works: A local resident observes suspicious activity and calls Cahir Garda Station on 0527445630. The suspicious activity is analysed by An Garda Siochana. If it decided that an alert is necessary they decide is whether to text all registered households in the 14 Zones under the scheme or if more appropriate to four or five areas. Gardai contact the service provider and the Text Alerts are sent to members.
