International Song For Peace: Lynn Holland from Essex, England receiving the winning Tipperary Crystal trophy for her song "Who Will Bring In the Light" from Martin Quinn, Secretary, Tipperary Peace Convention in the International Song of Peace Competition held in the Excel Centre, Tipperary Town on Saturday evening last. It was a case of third time lucky for Essex singer/songwriter Lynn Holland, as she beat off very strong competition to win the 2012 Tipperary International Song of Peace in Tipperary on Saturday.

A finalist in 2008 and 2010, it was victory at the third attempt for Lynn with her song titled “Who will bring in the light?”, before a full house at the Tipperary Excel Centre in Tipperary Town.

Scoring 40 marks out of a possible 50, Lynn was awarded the Tipperary Song of Peace Crystal Trophy and a cheque for €1,500. Lynn was the only finalist from England with the others hailing from the U.S.A., and from Ireland North and South.

Lynn is an experienced singer/songwriter, recording artiste and performer and has appeared on the international stage in concert and cabaret, television and radio broadcasts. She has several recordings released and also has a British TV Network series behind her. Her winning song is part of a peace musical that she has written titled “Creation Rocks”.

Lynn’s song was a very popular winner on the night and was performed again by her at a special Ecumenical Service for Peace at St. Mary’s Church, Tipperary on Sunday.

The Best Irish Entry in the Contest went to a song composed by Caitriona Kenny from Tipperary Town titled “Peace be with Me”, which was performed by well known local singer Marji Maxwell. Caitriona was awarded the Mick Tuohy Perpetual Cup and a Tipperary Crystal Trophy.
