Three Tipperary restaurants in top food guide
Three Tipperary restaurants have been declared as being amongst the top 100 restaurants in the country. Brocka on the Water, Ballinderry; Chez Hans & Café Hans, Cashel and The Old Convent, Clogheen are listed in the “Bridgestone 100 Best Restaurants in Ireland 2011” Guide.
Commenting on Brocka on the Water, guide authors, John and Sally McKenna say, “Nowhere else is quite like Brocka, this enchanting little tabernacle of food, this aesthetic dream, this powerhouse of family food and creativity.”
“Folks in the know will know that Café Hans and Chez Hans are both producing some of the very best cooking.”
Meanwhile, the tasting menu at The Old Convent was described as “..a near perfect experience” and “the eight courses are a giddy waltz through Ireland’s best foods.”
Two establishments fly the flag for Tipperary in the “Bridgestone 100 Best Places to Stay in Ireland 2011” - Inch House, Thurles and The Old Convent in Clogheen.
Of Inch House, the McKennas observe, “The Egan family’s range of artisan foods is the perfect complement to their beautiful country house. Is there anything that these guys can’t do?!”
The Old Convent is lauded as ‘not just a getaway, but a hideaway. And not just a hideaway, but a gourmet hideaway.”
