UniSlim is delighted to announce that two of its inspiring slimmers, Joanne O’Dwyer, a member of UniSlim in Thurles and Stephanie Ryan, a member of UniSlim in Cashel, have been selected as two of the ten finalists of the ‘Unislimmer of the Year 2012’ competition.

For the past 40 years, UniSlim has celebrated real people with inspiring and motivating weight loss stories, people just like Joanne and Stephanie who lost a combined total of ten stone!

The overall winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in The Shelbourne Hotel on Wednesday, November 7and will walk away with some fantastic prizes worth €1,000.

Joanne was inspired to join UniSlim when she saw her daughter’s christening photos and, for the first time, came to terms with how she really looked and her size. Once the penny had dropped, in May 2011 Joanne signed up for UniSlim. Having previously tried every diet imaginable with little lasting success, Joanne hoped to change her eating habits for good.

Stephanie had a long term issue with her weight, trying “slimming clubs”, miracle diets and prescription medications, but to no avail. Having two small boys meant that Stephanie found herself often tired and in need of something to motivate her.

For Joanne, she loves the support that she gets from attending her local UniSlim class and can never see herself going back to her old ways now. For Stephanie, she says that staying for the class talks have been a major part of her journey. She now keeps a tracker and monitors treats or high calorie foods to ensure she never goes back to her old eating habits.

Fiona Gratzer, managing director of UniSlim, added: “As always, this year’s UniSlimmer of the Year competition has received some fantastic applications. The ten finalists have not only lost weight, but have also gained a new found confidence and energy, as well as seeing some fantastic health benefits. They truly are an inspiration to us all! Selecting just ten finalists was not an easy job!”
