Community groups asked to get involved in work placements
A programme to provide the opportunity for people who are out of work to take up a community work placement is proving a major success in South Tipperary.
The Tús programme, delivered in South Tipperary by the South Tipperary Development Company and an activation measure by the Department of Social Protection, is coming to the end of its first year of operation and has been a tremendous success.
Up to 120 people working with 58 community groups have had the experience of a community work placement over a period of 52 weeks.
As the programme now moves into year two, South Tipperary Development Company is asking community and voluntary groups to get in touch by phone or by email with any ideas they may have for once off, short term, seasonal projects that would be on offer to the programme to broaden the range of experiences that the Programme can offer to participants and to take full advantage of the huge range of skills of participants currently being recruited for the Programme.
